Fright

Every time that I operate, I have to remove my watch and wedding ring to scrub my hands and forearm before I enter the operative field. This means that on an average day, I take my watch and wedding ring on and off about 5 or 6 times.

And there's nothing that puckers up my sphincter more than the sound of my wedding ring hitting the floor.

The financial aspect of having to replace the ring doesn't worry me all that much. The thought of having to tell my wife that I lost the ring scares the crap out of me.

My wife can tolerate a lot of the crazy things that I do. But losing my wedding ring is bound to unleash the hounds.
