Progression

It's been six months since the storms have demolished New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, and in some parts of the region, it seems as if time has stood still. The local, state, and federal government has done absolutely nothing as far as rebuilding. Hell, nothing's been done to even haul away the debris to start the rebuilding process. I visited the former home of one of my staff surgeons and saw the following:

Walking towards what is left over of his 2-story house. Only thing that remains is the pilings and the cryptic spray-painting left by the rescue team.

What used to be his kitchen.

A two car garage used to be here. Only the cement slab is left. The boat that was parked in front of the garage was found upside-down about 3 blocks away. You can see off in the distance the skeleton of another house that pretty much had everything blown away.

A house that "survived."

What used to be a convenience store down the street from his house.
