Scenery

It always took a bit longer than we thought to get someplace. Mainly because we would pull over to the side of the road to take pictures of scenery like this.

Or this.

Or this.

We happened to visit right in the middle of humpback whale season, (meaning that they are nearby, not that they're open for hunting), so tourists would go swerving off to the side of the road for a better look everytime a whale happened to surface nearby. Which was quite often, actually.

Waterfalls were plentiful, especially along the eastern side of the island. Not all were easily seen from the road. This one, called Twin Falls, required a 45 minute hike to reach it. The sign by the road actually advertised a 20 minute hike, but since the trails were poorly marked and muddy, it took a bit of going in circles before Nathalie and I were able to find this little oasis within an oasis.

We were all ready to jump into the pool, but it looked a little murky, despite the crystal clear water falling from above, so we abandoned that plan. Instead, we just walked around it and took pictures. That's Nathalie standing near the base of the falls.
