Potable

The mayor of New Orleans held a press conference yesterday to declare that the municipal water in New Orleans is now safe for human consumption.

Hmm...

Given that the town still smells like a septic tank, I don't think many people will be real keen on drinking the water here anytime soon.

But, to give credit where credit is due, the town has done a remarkable job of cleaning up the debris and damage. More streets are opening up daily, electricity is back on in most of the city, and it seems that the city is slowly coming back to life. A curfew is still in place and so are the military personnel, but we're getting used to that.

As for drinking the water, I'll see what kind of gastrointestinal complaints come rolling into the ER in the next few weeks before I go on to raise a glass of tap water to my lips.
