Catch up

When your town is under water and you don't have a home to go back to, you spend a great deal of time thinking about things. Some serious, some not so serious, and some pretty irrelevant to anything else that's really going on.

One of the annoying things about losing power for weeks on end is that everything in the refridgerator is going to go bad. Not just bad, but science project bad. Who knows what going to grow what.

That is why I plan on replacing all of the condiments that were in the fridge. Ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, whatever. I've witnessed restaurants leave out these condiments on the tables, but I don't think that automatically declares it to be a safe behavior. Just because everybody else is doing it means I have to do it. Besides, the labels recommend refridgeration for "best flavor".

Not only that, my non-powered and non-air conditioned house is probably averaging temperatures in the 100's. That seems to be the perfect condition for brewing up some awful concoction of bacteria and fungus. Now that's going to be some funky tangy ketchup.
