Versed

Operating on little kids is funny. Actually, to be more precise, there's nothing funny about operating on kids, it's all business. What's funny is interacting with them before surgery and after surgery.

The one thing that I really like about kids is that they just speak their mind. Not a whole lot of filtering between their brain and their mouth. Sometimes shocking. Sometimes revealing. Often hilarious.

Me: ...so the whole operation will take about an hour or so.

Boy's Dad: Will he be able to go home today?

Me: Yadda yadda yadda. [Continue to talk about the operation]

Boy's Dad: Yadda yadda yadda. [Continue to ask about the operation]

[All of a sudden the little boy sits straight up in bed]

Little boy: [Pointing wildly to my hair] Hey! How did you get your hair to do THAT?

Me: [A bit caught off guard] Uh... I put some hair gel in it this morning.

Little boy: Dad! Dad! I want spikey hair like him!

Boy's Dad: [Looks a bit embarrassed] Sorry about him...

Little boy: I want spikey hair, Dad! Spikey hair!!
