Insertion

"Am I ready?!" The patient snorted with digust and disbelief at the nurse.

The nurse, slightly taken aback, wasn't sure quite how to respond, so she merely smiled back meekly. I looked at the patient as I put my gloves on and grinned quietly to myself. I then made eye contact with the nurse and raised my eyebrow to signal that she should now sedate the patient.

I couldn't think of a better response to the nurse's question than the patient's unexpected retort: Who is ever ready to have a 4 ft long tube shoved up one's butt to examine their colon?
