I often respond by saying "I practice every day" when someone compliments me, often with great surprise, that I speak fluent English despite being an immigrant.

One patient actually asked me why I don't have an accent. I told him that if women thought Asian accents were sexy, I would have kept mine... "Harro rady, you rook velly sesy. I buy you a dlink?"
