Thievery

Despite several attempts to thwart our plans for grilled hamburgers and sausage by various unknown forces, Nathalie and I enjoyed a nice dinner.

First was the miraculous unexplainable change of the ground beef into ground turkey during its 2 day stay in the refridgerator. I could swear I bought ground chuck, but upon opening the meat drawer, there was only a package of ground turkey smiling back at me. C'est la vie, I made ground turkey patties.

Next was the sudden rain storm that started the minute I got the coals lit. But I simply pulled the grill under the protection of the roof overhang and the porch roof. The proximity of the hot coals to the side of the house gave Nathalie some nervous indigestion, but we had no problems.

Then, the set of grill tools simply disappeared. Nathalie and I searched high and low, but they were nowhere to be found. Someond had swiped them off of our porch. Thievery was afoot! Had we lived in the ghetto, I'd understand. It behooved us that someone in our upper-middle class neighborhood would steal. Regardless, I had an old set of tongs and spatulas and we grilled our burgers and sausage just fine.

Turkey burgers were delicious (and low fat), the rain scared off the insects, and we had full bellies despite these bizarre shortcomings. To finish off the night, Nathalie and I roasted marshmallows over the embers, listening to the rain fall softly through the night.
