Gonadotropin

Steve bought Nathalie a bonzai tree kit awhile back. It came with a few seeds, a little pot, peat moss, and a small pair of pruning scissors. A few days ago, two seeds sprouted from the pot, and Nathalie and I welcomed the new sprouts to the world with cheers. Considering that they look like half inch tall bean sprouts, we've got a long ways to go before the little bonzai tree will look like anything that was featured in Mr. Miyagi's workshop in The Karate Kid.

Steve was telling me a story about a friend of his who owned a bonzai tree for 15 years until it just got too old, and like everything else, inevitably died. Steve's friend cried and even buried the dead tree in the back yard.

At first that story sounded absurd and ridiculous, but then I could see how someone would become attached to something that they've taken care of for 15 years.
