Microcosm

I know it's not just me. I've asked around and this apparently happens to everybody. No matter what time of the day you go to WalMart, there is always a line at the check out counter. It can be 3am on a Tuesday night, and there will be 4 people ahead of you in line. Not to mention the herd of shoppers moving through the aisles aimlessly with their half-filled carts, browsing for nothing in particular, but doing a fairly good job of impeding your progress through the store. Perhaps these are the plain-clothed security force that help to alleviate the shoplifting burden that WalMart faces. That may explain why they seem to be ubiquitously omnipresent, regardless of the time of day. However, I cannot explain why the majority of them surround themselves with an entourage of several children that run amok, paying no heed to their commands. Or why they tend to be women of the plus-size category.

There will always be that one person that has difficulty counting to 15 and stands in the Express lane with 47 various things in their cart.

And of course, the person that never has their money ready and always seems surprised when the WalMart employee asks them to pay for their items.

Ah, WalMart... My motivator to exercise, obtain higher education, have disciplined children, and keep up with my math skills.
